Nausicaä della Valle del Vento

A thousand years after a planetary ecological collapse, the Earth is covered by the Fukai, a toxic forest of giant fungi and mutant insects that constantly expands its territory, slowly purifying soil poisoned by humanity itself. Nausicaä, princess of the Valley of the Wind, becomes the vector of an ancient prophecy — the arrival of a figure clad in blue capable of reconnecting humanity to the earth — which her own actions in the present help make true. Miyazaki builds a pure case of self-fulfilling myth applied to environmental catastrophe: the religious fiction doesn't predict the future, it produces it through those who believe they are merely following it.
