The Multiversity

An archipelago of fifty-two parallel Earths is invaded by The Gentry, conceptual entities that literally feed on stories and use the comic itself as a vector of contagion — a cursed issue, "Ultra Comics", that directly instructs the reader to complete the ritual by reading it. Nix Uotan, a god-cartographer of the multiverse, is exiled and trapped inside the body of a human comic-book artist, unable to recall his divine nature until he redraws himself in pencil. Morrison pushes the hypersigil method to its logical conclusion: a narrative entity that explicitly recognizes the reader as part of the circuit and enlists them as a necessary accomplice in the activation.
